Guild meeting on Tuesday, August 11

Dr. Colleen Pokorny and Dr. Brigitte Cluver from Oregon State University presented the Apparel Design program's research and creative projects with hemp textiles for use in making apparel and quilts. Colleen discussed how hands-on experiences with hemp fabrics can shift perceptions and inspire new possibilities for sustainable textiles. Hemp textile samples and several garments make from hemp were shown. In 2027 the Corvallis Museum will host an exhibition of apparel made with hemp textiles. Stay tuned!

Here are some photos captured during Show and Tell:

Deb experimented with incorporating red hot poker plant material into this fish (my live photo was blurry so Deb submitted this lovely shot)

Nancy brought some finished work inspired by her exploration into the work of Carl Jung.

Barbara finished another sweater in her unique style - no pattern and a variety of yarns.

Karen showed a Katazome piece depicting a tide pool she entered in a Studio Art Quilt Associates exhibit of touchable quilts

Liz attended more book arts workshops this summer. Here is an example of her latest workshop.

Our next meeting is September 8th with guest speaker Lynn Woll, the creator of the website https://createwhimsy.com
